THE COUNTRY GARDEN FELT FLOWER SERIES

PRIMROSE

PDF Pattern
SKU: CGFFSP0226D1

Years ago, I lived in a flat and whilst watching Geoff Hamilton’s Cottage Garden series on TV, I dreamt of having my own garden one day. Although I don't have a traditional cottage, I do now have my much loved small back garden where I grow a mix of flowers and vegetables. This series is inspired by what is in bloom throughout the year. For January, I have chosen the pretty Primrose, which brings a little burst of sunshine and hope for what is to come.

The decoration is 100% hand sewn.

I hope you that you enjoy stitching felt decoration as much as I did!

Approx. Finished Dimensions

Step by step instructions for how to complete the felt decoration, plus some 'little happy' tips for the techniques used.

Fabric Requirements

My felt of choice is wonderful wool/rayon mix and generally use a soft and gentle vintage feel range of colours, but do of course feel free to use your favourite type of felt and colour combinations. This project takes quite small pieces so it is great for using up those little scraps you may have in your stash! I used the following colours and have given an indication of the size required for the larger pieces:

·      For the Background ~ Off White felt 7” x 11” rectangle

·      For the Oval Mount ~ Pale Peach felt 5” x 6” rectangle

·      For the Frame ~ Olive Green felt 5” x 6” rectangle

·      For the Petals ~ Pale Yellow felt

·      For the Leaves ~ Dark Green felt

·      For the Sepal ~ Sage Green felt

You will also need

Embroidery Threads

A piece of lace for for the hanging loop

Optional, but I highly recommend! - Freezer Paper, which makes cutting out the felt pieces so much easier

Additional Notions and Tools Required

Erasable Fabric Pen &/or Chalk Pencil, Embroidery Needles for Hand Stitching, Applique Pins, Scissors, plus any of your favourite notions that I haven’t included!
